A Sulphur man has been arrested for failing to register as a sex offender, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said deputies made a traffic stop about 9 p.m. June 1 for a traffic violation on a truck near the intersection of Ruth Street and Cypress Street in Sulphur.

When deputies spoke with the driver, Wesley P. Vincent, 53, 426 Juniper Road, a registered sex offender, it was learned he was in control of a vehicle that was not registered with law enforcement, making him in violation of his sex offender registration requirements, Myers said.

He was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with failure to register as a sex offender; and running a red light.
